IMB History

The Institute was founded by the publisher Fernando Burgo in 1961. His long and thriving experience in the area of fashion has proven to be successfully. His commitment to share in his knowledge with each and every student interested in fashion is the result of 50 years of experience in the fashion industry. His direction enables the students to be in touch with the fashion world and all opportunities of training and work the fashion industry has to offer.

Missoni

Awarding

Ambrogino Oro Burgo

The municipality of Milan has decided to hand over the Ambrogino dโ€™Oro 2014 (Civic Merit) to the Director Fernando Burgo, founder of the first Istituto di Moda Burgo in Milan in 1961. Fernando Burgo is also author of the first and most popular manuals of fashion design, pattern making and tailoring: Il Figurino di Moda and Il Modellismo Sartoriale. Its Fashion Institute, with offices throughout Italy and in many foreign countries, teaches the basics of fashion design and tailoring to thousands of students around the world, creating jobs and giving luster to a primacy of Milan.

Fashion Events

At the end of every school year Istituto di Moda Burgo organizes a fashion show for its students. This is a great event for the school staff and also for people whoโ€™s working in this field because they can discover new talented designers. Moreover the institute takes part to other events with the most important fashion organizations, institutional organs and fashion companies.

IMB fashion books

Since the beginning of its activity, the Istituto di Moda Burgo tried to give its students suitable instruments, such as books, duplicated lecture notes, curves, squares, in order to teach the fashion system. The experience reached through several booksโ€™ editions culminated in the realization of two books which the experts of fashion consider the milestones of the fashion teaching methods. They are โ€œIl Modellismoโ€ (last edition 2018) and โ€œIl Figurinoโ€ (last edition 2019). These books are constantly up-dated so that can be abreast of the continual evolution in the fashion world.

Companies

Close cooperation with companies, atelier, style offices placed in Milan and in Italy, such as Dolce & Gabbana, Krizia, Armani, Gucci, Gianfranco Ferrรฉ and many more. We give them contacts of the new upcoming Fashion Designers.Also, we offer fashion advice to companies, such as the planning of a fashion portfolio either womenโ€™s wear, menswear or childrenโ€™s wear, pattern books, trends, restyling.

Schools and Universities

Setting up courses and branches worldwide. The recent successes came from Turkey (2013), Estonia (2013) and Indonesia (2012). We have been working for many years in: Egypt, with the decision of the Egyptian Ministry of Technology, after a selection of 200 Italian fashion schools, to give the management of the Fashion Design Center (FDC) and its fashion style office to Istituto di Moda Burgo. Mexico with the first Italian Fashion school: the IMB by Lorenโ€™s. China, Japan, Austria, Albania, Peru, Jordan, and many others .
